This area today has been the focus of many reports of paranormal phenomenon. Accounts of cars suddenly and inexplicably stalling have been widespread. Other electrical drain phenomenon have been reported as well. Mostly, tales of car headlights suddenly going extremely dim when entering the area of hills of the seven sisters. Then after leaving the area, the car lights would suddenly get bright again.
Perhaps the most chilling tales of all are the numerous accounts over the years of travelers in the area hearing the screams of young women seemingly coming from the nearby hills while traveling on this stretch of road which in modern times is technically named Road L. This road is now known today as "7 Sisters Road" to the locals. Perhaps if you are driving in this area, you too may hear the spirits wailing in the haunted hills of the seven sisters.
Went on this road..didn't experience anything but being scared! :P Still believe in it though.
ReplyDeleteI was born and raised in this area and spent many a night on this road. Don't know if the stories are true or not, but your date tended to sit real close and kinda hang on when you drove down these hills at night. ;)
ReplyDeleteI was born and raised in Nebraska City. I've heard of the "seven sisters road" as a party location for teens. LOL I had never heard the "gruesome tale" told. Never once, in my entire life (50 years) have I ever heard anyone talk about ghosts there. As far as screaming, you're bound to hear many noises in the country. Owls, mountian lions (quite a few sightings quite recently), bobcats. There are NO ghosts on this road.

DeleteTonight, 6 of us drove down the road, 8 times.. the last three trips heading west, we saw 3 separate women flee into the bushes on the north side of the road. We got the second on video. The first two were shorter, slow moving, almost looked crouched down. The third stood at the bottom of the hill until we came closer the. Fled and wasn't able to be seen after.. has anyone heard the entire story of the sisters? We met locals who lived on the property and they claimed to own the cemetery as well...we chose not to go on their property in fear of a real life scary movie..has anyone else seen the sisters?
ReplyDeleteWe went to the cemetery last night with the owner. They either were totally *ucking with us or that place is seriously haunted. I got one interesting pic of 2 orbs above the tombstones.
DeleteI've hunted coyotes at night on this land. I've known the owner for years. The cemetery is very old. If I remember right, the oldest grave I found that was readable said 1852. Some day I want to go do pencil etchings on the markers and turn them over to a genealogical society.

Is seven sisters haunted> yes it is, I own this property, and have had many extremely unusual things happen. For now I will leave it at that.

DeleteI'm a senior in high school this year and my family and I were heading back from Nebraska City to go to Auburn. And my mom looked to the left of us and told us the dirt road we saw was haunted. Being kids we thought she was joking until she told us our dad was hunting with a friend one time and they were headed back at night and the electricity went off in their car and they wrecked. So at that point we knew for sure there is a good chance that the road is haunted.
ReplyDeleteWent down this road last weekend. One of the scariest experiences of my life. me and three buddies drove though the hills 7 times at about 10 o'clock at night and we got it all on camera. Our doors would rattle out of no where gravel was thrown at our window and our car reved itself up a few times as well. Also on video you can hear a clear female voice say what we believe it "together". Scary place, defiantly haunted
ReplyDeleteIn the early 1980's, my Dad, my Cousin, and myself killed 7 ferel hogs in that area. Maybe they were hog ghosts? Sausage ghosts?

ReplyDeleteI went this weekend. I went with some cousins of mine. We had no spooky experiences, but will tell you the owners fully believe the area is haunted, and I believe them. They are very nice people, so please respect their land and do not tresspass.

ReplyDeleteThe paranormal is not a circus. These people are suffering, stuck here until who knows what. This shouldn't be used as a tourist site. If this was your family who died tragically would you want teenagers and other people looking for a short adrenaline rush disturbing your peace? Plus if they're that powerful to do stuff like that to cars and have that kind of energy to be seen, they're probably not the kind we should be playing around with.
ReplyDeleteFunny how everybody "claims" to have been down this road yet in the 24 years I've lived in this state, and numerous miles I've driven just about every back road in otoe, lancaster, cass, and Nemaha county I have never heard or seen 7 sisters road never even seen a road RESEMBLUNG what is in the pictures...wait as a matter of fact I have just about EVERY road in OTOE county looks that way...right along with Nemaha and lancaster county. It's a rumor tall tale legend etc.
ReplyDeleteGoogle it and look at images you'll find images of many different roads kinda seems like a good spooky ghost story doesn't it? Now in all the miles I've driven on otoe county gravel both in a pickup and pulling a cow trailer to deliver cattle never once have I experienced ANY malfunction with a vehicle aside from a flat trailer tire cause by a nail...oh yea that was surely placed there by a ghost of one of the sisters for sure just to ruin my night and cost me 54 to fix.
As I said seems like a bunch of kids just keeping the hype up on something that doesn't never has and never will exist. When I see proof of the road it's on and proof of the hills and exact spots where you're supposed to stop and look it'll be worth checking into until then it's nothing more than a waste of time chasing a legend that don't exhist
You don't have to look very hard to see the power plant in the background and then you will realize exactly where it is.
DeleteOk folks, seriously, even in the 1800's if a man killed his seven sisters (or daughters) and hung them on seven different hills, it would have made some sort of news. There would be far more to go on then just a legend of a story. There would be some documentation of the murders and some real people involved. As nobody is able to produce any such information it is clear that the entire story is just that, a story.
ReplyDeleteNot necessarily true, This was and to some respect still is a "back woods" area, if it was prior to Nebraska being a state there was really no organized law, Nebraska city had a News paper but I'm not for sure how long ago it started. Its more the possible that this happened with no written record.

ReplyDeleteI just visited their, and the creepiest thing happened. It was my brother, two friends, and I. The first time we went, it was okay, so we went back. That time, my brother got poseded. I know he was. All of us were screaming when a puff of smoke came out of nowhere. Once it got passed us, everyone was still screaming but the one who was driving, my brother. At first, I didn't take note of it, then once we got passed the 1st turn, I knew something was wrong. He had said in a monotone voice, "Time to go." The way he said it made me suspicious, and I knew he wasn't right. We drove to Walmart and looked at the car. Once we got out, I gave him the piece of rosary we had brought in case and he wore it, but took it of as soon as possible, because it was become 'hot.' Then we started to ask him questions and he just got mad and looked through his phone. It wasn't till we got to our high school when he went back to normal and was able describe what happened before he blanked. For anyone who wants to go their, don't. They're restless spirits and unless you don't care about loosing your soul, be my guest. Just remember, record to get some evidence, for I did and it is creepy as f***.

ReplyDeleteMy mom her friends & my friends drove on 7 sisters road last night a little bit after we passed the bridge we were on a hill my moms friend said she saw a girl with matted hair laying down nobody else saw it so she told her to back up to see so we were backing up well that's what we thought until my moms friend that was driving said that was not me the car had stalled we went all the way to the end & turned & went back down my mom was out the window sitting on the window seal & pointed to a gigantic oak tree on the west & said that would be a great place for hanging we were stopped at this point then all the sudden ahhhh came from the west my mom came back into the truck & said floor it the driver rolled her window up & we left this was in the same area my moms friend had said she saw the girl with matted hair!

ReplyDeleteI looked into this. The stretch of Road 'L' being referred to runs east-west from Power Plant (roughly 72nd st) to 68th Street. It then picks up again from 62nd st West of highway 75, which is confusing people and is the wrong stretch of road. The proper stretch of Road 'L' actually takes you to the Hamburg Wildlife refuge SE of the power plant. I've hunted down in there. Google map:

There is also an interesting road called "Noble" which is also Road 'N' two miles south. If you take that east from HWY 75 down to about 70th, you will cross some railroad tracks (part of the Steamboat Trace Bike Trail now. Yes you can have a nice bike ride through the haunted forest). What is interesting, is this is where the city of Minersville used to be (formerly called Otoe City, and Bennet's Ferry before that). I read that there was once a cemetery there. There were miners who died in the coal shafts, so I read. The cemetery apparently can't be found anymore. It is 7 miles from Nebraska City. Railroads used to build towns 7 miles apart because the steam engines could only go 7 miles before needing a refill (correct me if I'm wrong; I read that somewhere). I don't recall a bridge anywhere from 'L' to 'N', but will drive down that way soon. I live 30 miles away from that area. Here's some interesting links for Minersville:
